Description: Theories and techniques necessary for effective practice of JSD Acupressure, beginning with 45 main JSD points, progressing to over 200
    important points, and correlating point location with anatomy.  Exact angle of point stimulation is emphasized. Students begin to practice by following
    release examples and later  learn to improvise based on tension patterns devoted to demonstration and practice.  Required for acupressurist
    registration. Classes may be taken individually for self-help.(150 Hours)

    Basic (Module 1, Part 1)
    No Prerequisite (40 hours)
    Basic principles, techniques and theories of Acupressure. Location of 55 acupoints, with anatomical detail and individual attention. Beginning with  1)  
    Simple color-coded release method and basic neck release and
    2) Segmental Release Method for bodymind armoring.  Local and distal point theory.  "Pal Dan Gum" movements.  Segmental exploration including
    Bodymind associations of each segment.  Body Focusing and breathing techniques to facilitate tension release.  The 8 Strange Flows, or Extraordinary
    Meridians; assessment and Strange Flow release patterns for general bodymind relaxation. (40 Hours)

    Intermediate (Module 1, Part 2)
    Prerequisite:  Basic JSD with Authorized Teacher (55 hours)
    Meridian theory.  The Six Divisions.  Basic peer counseling skills  for processing feelings.   Location and psycho-physical associations of the 12
    meridians.  Location of 60 additional points in relation to surrounding anatomy.  Defense mechanisms and defensive attitudes related to yang
    meridians;  emotional spectra related to yin meridians. Transformation of Qi.  Zang/Fu theory.  Meridian release patterns. Specific point combinations
    for energic problems.  Legal-ethical issues. Building trust.  Assessment of tense segments. Basic pulse reading. Use of local-distal point combinations of
    appropriate meridians.  (55 hours)r

    Advanced (Module 1, Part 3)
    Prerequisite: Intermediate JSD with Authorized Teacher (30 hours)
    Introduction to "Five Elements" theory of energic inter-relationships and bodymind application to energic and muscular imbalance.  The "Emotional
    Kaleidoscope."  Mu, Shu, 5 Element, "Windows of the Sky", Source and Luo points.  Application  of 5 Elements theory to energic and muscular
    hypoactivity or hyperactivity.  Pulse reading.    Point palpation to assess energic imbalance (Yu, Mu and Windows of the Sky).  Planning interventions to
    restore bodymind energy balance.  (30 hours)

    Body Mind Awareness (Module 1, Part 4)
        Prerequisite: None (25 Hours)
     The purpose of this class is to increase comfort with feelings and images which may arise during sessions. Empathy.  Active Listening.  Communication
      skills. The power of words; conscious and unconscious levels of communication.  Using the suggestive form.   Accepting, encouraging
      and following the process. Understanding the therapeutic relationship:  transference and counter-transference.  Ethics. Confidentiality. Implications of
      touch and questions of intimacy. (25 hours). May be taught by an Authorized JSD teacher, if qualified, or a psychotherapist.

    Parts may be taken in any order.
    This class provides an opportunity to review point locations and angles, and to integrate the material of Module I, plus an in-depth study of Strange
    Flows, Organ Meridians, Zang/Fu, Segments and Five Phases, along with additional theories and special point groups.  The bodymind focus of this
    class varies from teacher to teacher. (100 hours)
    Taught by Authorized JSD teachers.
    For JSD Acupressurist Registration, students are required to complete Module 2, Parts 1 and 2, before applying.   Part 3 may be completed after
    registration, if necessary.
    For Intensive Teacher Training Program applicants will be required to complete Module 2, Part 2  twice. They will also be required to complete

    Module II Part 1: Integration of Key Theories
    Prerequisite: Advanced JSD (30 Hours)
           A)  In-depth study of Strange Flows, emphasizing their function and including over 150 Strange Flows points, most of which were introduced in
    Module I.  Practice: new SF release patterns. (21 hours)
           B) Integration of Strange Flow, Meridian and Segmental theories in assessment and point combinations. Special powerful point groups:      
    Entry/exit points: general and group lo points; the 8 meeting points, associated points, combining points; etc. (14 hours)

    Those who have already taken this class may take it as a review for $50 a day.
           A)  Review of all Basic and Intermediate points for accuracy of location and precision of angle. (14 hours)        
           B)  Demonstration of assessment skills:  point palpation, pulse reading, questioning, listening, looking.Specific applications of Segmental, Strange
    Flow, Meridian, and Five Phases theories to common problems such as neck, shoulder, and back tension/pain, headache, chest/respiratory problems,
    menstrual difficulties, pelvic tension, digestive stress, insomnia, joint problems.  Includes focus on bodymind process skills.  (16 hours)

    Prerequisite: Advanced JSD (35 hours)
           A) Causes of imbalance:  Exogenous and endogenous causes of dis-ease, including the 6 External Pathogens and the 7 Evil Emotions
    (reviewed); the 4 Levels (Protection, Qi, Nutrition, Blood).  Review of 6 Divisions; Zang/Fu theory; Curious Organs.  Fundamental
    substances.  Introduction to the 8 Principles.  (21 hours)
